One of the many lighthouses in New Jersey is the one in Barnegat. It is affectionately called "Old Barney." In the fall I visited it with friends and we climbed to the top. It was a lovely day spent with friends. My most recent watercolor painting is a depiction of this beloved South Jersey attraction at the beach.
This has been my Maine coast winter. "The Figurehead" watercolor painting has also been inspired by my travels along the coast of Maine. Everyday, while there, I would watch this man go out in his boat with his faithful companion perched at the bow of the boat, like a lookout. It reminded me of the old Viking boats with their figureheads.
Had a reception last night for a show I was involved in with four other artists at the Medford Arts Center ( MAC). It was a lovely evening with a great turnout. I was pleased to get some very nice feedback from those in attendance and my art was well received!
For the past two years I have been blessed to be able to take a fall trip to the Jersey shore with my longtime friends. That is the nicest time of year to go there. The crowds are gone, the sky is bluer and the ocean is warm. I thought of the Neil Diamond song by this title and thought it was perfect for my watercolor painting of the beach too.
Heading Home, is another of my Maine coast inspired watercolor paintings. A recent trip to Maine was filled with gray days, but they give that perfect watercolor kind of sky. I spent many hours out on the deck of the home I was staying in, observing all the varied watercraft coming and going each day. This is an artistic compilation of various scenes from Maine.
